Nicolas Boissez is a program manager at Fondation Hirondelle, a Swiss-based organisation which creates or supports independent news media in conflict and post-conflict areas. He manages the Studio Tamani project in Mali (a 3-hour daily radio program produced by a team of journalists in Bamako and broadcasted by 60 local radios throughout the country since 2013), and Studio Kalangou, a similar media program launched in 2016 in Niger. He has also been supporting the development of the Studio Mozaik journalism school in the Côte d’Ivoire, and he’s currently designing new production and media support activities in Ukraine. From 2008 to 2013, he supervised Fondation Hirondelle’s operations with the UN station Radio Okapi, the leading radio in the Democratic Republic of Congo with 14 million daily listeners.
With a BA in information and communication, Nicolas began his career as a journalist in France in the late 1990s. He then spent 4 years in Vietnam as an Audiovisual Attaché at the French Embassy in Hanoi, and 4 years in the DRC, as a Regional Audiovisual Attaché for Central Africa for the French Foreign Affairs Ministry.
