Videogames for story-telling

Videogames provide an interactive narrative for story-telling. They provide the interface for narrative immersion. Videogames proceed through the narrative by the means of plots and character-construction and due to their role-playing potential allow the user to navigate through the narrative. As videogame plot points become increasingly complex they create a space for social construction and representation. This session will explore how such character representations negotiate gender norms, social mores, and a continuously evolving digital media landscape.
