This session will shed light on specific examples of things going well and things going wrong in the relationship between media and political institutions in transition or post-transition countries: it will involve examples of growth of the media sector playing a very positive role in democratization and examples of growth of the media sector playing a negative role because of ownership, oligarchs, and propaganda outlets.
