Qlue is a crime reporting application developed by Smart City Jakarta which works under the aegis of the Department of Communication, Informatics, and Public Relations of the Jakarta Capital City Government. The purpose is to develop Jakarta into a smarter city by improving accountability, good governance, and public service delivery. Qlue is citizen services app that allows citizens to monitor and report public services. Over time Qlue has grown more than just a complaint mechanism. It has become the platform through which citizens can access real-time information on traffic and transportation, healthcare, safety, education, and entertainment. It is also being used as platform that can offer directions to the nearest police station, hospital, or sightseeing spot. Qlue offers an illustrative example of how user practices can amplify the opportunities offered by technological initiatives.
