The threats in many countries are changing as investigative and other journalists seek to report on people in money and power. Increasingly, powerful persons are using legal threats, misinformation, spying and other tools to threaten media and stop them from reporting critically on them. Self censorship has never been higher as an increasingly fragile media face entrenched monied and powerful interests. OCCRP will talk about how they handle the increasingly hostile legal environment and efforts that are underway by OCCRP and other organizations to build systems to handle the next great threat to journalism.
