The Indonesia Press Freedom Index is an initiative led by the Indonesian Press Council to evaluate the country's media freedom situation. It is an exemplary initiative undertaken by a country to self-evaluate the independence and pluralism of its national media. This session will engage with the democratic importance and human rights perspective on which the Index is premised. The Press Freedom Index (IKP) aims not only to establish a regional ranking of press freedom but also to identify the challenges and opportunities that will lead to safeguarding this freedom.
