Jesper Højberg is the Executive Director of International Media Support, an international, Denmark-based organisation that works with media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition. In 2001, Jesper Højberg set up IMS in the wake of the Rwanda genocide which now works across four continents to strengthen professional journalism and ensure that media and media workers can operate under challenging circumstances. Mr. Højberg has more than 20 years of experience within the field of journalism, social research, and media development. His early career includes a post as director of a UNESCO Film School in Zimbabwe, and coordinator for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ regional Civil Society Development programme for South Eastern Europe. As director of IMS, he has helped to lay the foundation for one of the longest-running media development programmes in the Middle East and North Africa and was based for two years in Kathmandu, Nepal, strengthening International Media Support’s presence in South Asia.
