Kelli Arena, USA, is a award winning broadcast journalist, newspaper columnist, and Founding & Executive Director of the Global Center for Journalism and Democracy at Sam Houston State University. For 25 years, she worked as a news manager and on-air correspondent for CNN. As the network’s Justice Correspondent, she covered terrorism, national security, the Supreme Court and federal law enforcement. Kelli started at the network in New York as a business and economics reporter. She has covered every major news story from the 1987 stock market crash to the September 11th attacks to terrorism hearings at Guantanamo Bay. She also helped with the launch of News Certified Exchange, creating a database of experts for journalists. She has been based in London, Tokyo, New York and Washington. She has worked to empower women leaders around the world, and has also trained activists, politicians, and journalists around the globe, with a special focus on the Middle East and North Africa.
