Laurent Allary is an advisor to the General Manager at CFI, the French media cooperation agency. In his position, he has contributed to restructuring the company around the official development assistance mandate of the French government. CFI works around 4 major fields of activity to promote good governance through improved media production: pluralism and freedom of expression, economic viability of media companies, promotion of the Millenium Development Goals and development of human resources. He has previously worked for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the regional audiovisual attaché in SADEC countries (based in Pretoria, RSA) and in Canada (based in Ottawa). In this position, he supervised international cooperation programs (community radio trainings in South Africa) and cultural activities (development of cinema and television in both South Africa and Canada). He also opened the Asian office of UNIFRANCE, the agency which promotes French cinema abroad, where he was in charge of developing French cinema distribution in 10 countries.
