Meidyatama Suryodiningrat is the President Director of Antara, The Indonesian National News Agency since January 2016. He was the former Editor-in-Chief of The Jakarta Post for 6 years as well a member of the Board of Directors of PT. Bina Media Tenggara (publisher of The Post). With a background in journalism spanning 18 years he continues to write op-ed pieces, columns and essays on a wide range of subjects focusing on issues related to socio-political affairs and foreign policy. He has also worked for two-years outside of journalism as an analyst for a Jakarta-based strategic consulting firm which engages in government and community relations. Apart from his journalistic work, he is a frequent contributor to various journals and books and is a former research fellow at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. He received a Bachelors degree (majoring in Political Science and History) from Carleton University in Ottawa, and attended graduate school at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
