Yosef Adi Prasetyo is currently the Chairman of the Indonesian Press Council and was the Vice-Chairman and Commissioner of the National Commission on Human Rights. He is a frequent speaker at various seminars, trainings and forums both locally, nationally and internationally, especially on the topic of media, journalism, conflict resolution, violence, human rights, and security sector reform. During 2000-2005, he had become a member of Security Reform Working Group, supported by Partnership Indonesia-UNDP, and was involved in writing up a concept paper on Defense for the Republic of Indonesia. He is also an avid researcher on various topics. One of his joint research is on Democracy in Indonesia, conducted with the support from the University of Oslo, Norway. More well-known by his nickname, Stanley, among his colleagues and friends--a nickname that he got during his student activism days of 1980s--he used to be a working journalist of Jakarta-Jakarta weekly, and now is sharing his knowledge and experience by teaching journalism in Tarumanagara University, Jakarta.
