Venu is the co- Founder/Director of Ideosync Media Combine, a New Delhi-based not for profit working on Communication for Social Change, Community Media, Freedom of Expression and Voice Equity. She is a media trainer and a filmmaker and specializes in planning, design and execution of integrated communication initiatives for multi-sectoral social change programs and has experience in South and South East Asia. Ms. Arora received the Macarthur Fellowship for Leadership Development in 2002 and a national award for her film Nirankush (1998). Her current interests are in Participatory and Community Media, Development and Evaluation Practice, Feminism, Gender and Media, Adolescent and Sexuality communication. She has authored CR: Learning the Skills, a detailed capacity building manual for Community Radio trainers, and Community Radio Basics: A quick guide for NGOs interested in CR, published by UNICEF; Internal Migration - A manual for Community Radio Stations published by UNESCO. She is also a published poet and lyricist.
